Frequently Asked Questions

Q. So what is the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure?

A. The PokerStars Caribbean Adventure is a World Poker Tour tournament in The Bahamas that PokerStars players can qualify for online. The PokerStars Caribbean Adventure will be held at the Atlantis Resort and Casino on January 5-12, 2005.

Q. Is this a World Poker Tour event?

A. Yes! The PokerStars Caribbean Adventure tournament is a sanctioned WPT event.

Q. Is there an agreement I need to sign to appear in a WPT event?

A. Yes. The WPT requires that all players in WPT events sign a waiver allowing the WPT to film and broadcast their images, as well as other requirements. This agreement will be available on our web site; you can also request a copy from Support.

Q. Can I play even if I don't sign the agreement?

A. No; the agreement is a requirement for participation in the main event.

Q. How old do I have to be to participate?

A. You must be 18 years of age or of legal age of majority in your jurisdiction (whichever is greater) to play either in satellites or in any of the Events. Please note that if you win the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure main event, but do not meet the age requirement for the WPT Championship (age 21 at the time of the championship), you will forfeit without compensation the entry into the WPT Championship. For complete age information please visit our Terms and Conditions.

Q. How much does it cost to enter?

A. We encourage you to win your entry by playing in one of our satellites. Satellites buy-ins start at $3, there will also be select free satellites where you may use your FPPs to buy-in. If you fail to qualify and would still like to play in the WPT event you may buy directly into the tournament for $7,800+$200.

Q. How do players qualify for the main event?

A. You may qualify one of three ways:
1. Win one of our cash satellites.
2. Win one of our Frequent Player Point or Tournament Leader board events. We will be giving away over $500,000 worth of free prize packages through FPP and TLB events.
3. Buy directly into the event for $7,800+$200

Click here for PCA 2005 satellite information.

Q. Can I qualify using my Frequent Player Points?

A. Yes. We are running 2-tier FPP events. Each Sunday at 5:00 PM there is 10,000 FPP buy-in tourney. You can either buy-in directly to the 10,000 FPP tourney or qualify to it through 100 FPP or 1,000 FPP buy-in events daily.

Q. Can I purchase a package with W$ or T$?

A. Yes! You can buy-in directly using your W$ or T$. You may purchase the PCA package which includes the event buy-in and hotel accommodations for you and a guest (W$10,000), but no travel expense money. Please note that rooms for the PCA are in very limited supply and will sell out. We recommend that you make reservations early. To arrange your buy-in using W$ or T$ please email support@pokerstars.com. Also, please be aware that this direct buy-in policy applies to the PCA 2005 event and may not apply to other PokerStars W$ events.

Q. Can I still buy-in directly?

A. Yes. The amount to buy-in is $8,000 ($7,800 goes to the award pool and $200 is a fee).

You may also send us an email requesting that we simply deduct the $7,800+$200 from your PokerStars account.

Q. Where can I get more details about directly buying in?

A. Check out our direct buy-in page.

Q. Can I win an entry once I'm in The Bahamas?

A. I don't know - how well do you play? :-) You'll definitely have the opportunity - we will be running two super-satellites prior to the event. You can try to win a seat via either (or both) of those. The satellites will be on January 5th and 6th. The buy-in will be $200+20. You'll have unlimited rebuys for the first hour of play, with your choice of a single ($200) or double ($400) add-on at the break. Winners of additional entries will be credited with W$ equal to the prize value.

Q. What if I don't manage to win a seat in the super-satellites?

A. You can still purchase an entry directly before the start of the event.

Q. I want to book a room at Atlantis now so I'm sure of going. If I win a package later can I get that room refunded?

A. Yes. If you book now and subsequently win a package, you will get a refund of your original booking.

Q. Can I upgrade the room that I won in a package?

A. Yes. You can pay for an upgrade of the room you won in a package. You will do that through our travel planner.

Q. What if I want to add extra days, an extra room, baby cot in the room, whatever?

A. Contact Jackie Boyer (jackie.d.boyer@aexp.com) to make those arrangements.

Q. Can I sell my seat if I win?

A. You must play the first seat you win. If you are lucky enough to win additional seats, your PokerStars account will be credited with $10,000 in W$ plus $1,000. Please visit our event Terms and Conditions page for complete details.

Q. I won! What do I do now?

A. Our travel planner will be in touch with you within a few days. You will need to provide them with some personal information, including address, contact phone numbers, your passport number, the name of your companion and your booking preference. You can also book your air travel through the travel planner if you wish, or do it yourself via the web or another agent.

Q. Now that I'm going, where can I find more details about the trip?

A. Our travel planner will send you an email with a link to a personalized page with details about your trip.

Q. What is the schedule for the events at the Atlantis?

A. Everybody will arrive on January 5th. There will be a cocktail party the evening of the 5th. After that, the poker room will open, and we'll have a satellite to the main event for people that haven't qualified yet (or who wish to win a second seat for W$). The main event itself will begin at noon on the 6th and be started in two flights (as this year's WSOP was). So you may start on the 6th or the 7th. We will also run another satellite on the 6th, with its winners starting in the second flight on the 7th.

During the week,we will also have $200, $300, and $500 no-limit hold'em events. We will also spread cash side games, limits upon demand. The final table of the main event will be on the 11th. We'll also have a good-bye cocktail party on the 11th, and everybody will check out and leave on the 12th.

Q. Which Flight am I playing in?

A. You can view the assignments in the PokerStars Lobby under the WPT/Qualifiers Tab. There is a listing for WPT Flight 1 and WPT Flight 2. Click on a Flight and look for your nickname in the alphabetized listing.

Q. What if I want to change my assigned Flight?

A. To be fair to all players, to have the same number of players in each flight, and to help ensure a smooth start to this Event, we will not make any changes to the Flight assignments.

Q. My package included $1,000 cash. What's that for?

A. The $1,000 (which has been credited to your PokerStars account) is for airfare and other travel expenses.

Q. Will there be other poker games I can play while in The Bahamas?

A. Yes. There will be cash games of various limits and small tournaments including Sit&Gos.

A. No. Please bring all the cash you need for incidentals and side tournament play.

Q. Is my food included in the price of the trip?

A. No. You will be responsible for your own meal costs during the trip. PokerStars will provide food in the poker room at various times of the day, including a continental breakfast and light snacks. Please be aware that food costs at the Atlantis are quite high and budget accordingly. Unfortunately, you will not be able to sign up for the Atlantis's meal plans.
