Caribbean Poker Adventure - Day 4

It's Day 4 and all the players are in the money now. David Singer busted out 28th. He had 88 and pushed all-in on a flop of Kh-Ks-Jd. Gus Hansen thought long and hard, finally calling with Ah-Th. The turn was a complete blank, but a jack on the river forced Singer to play the board and Gus's ace kicker won the pot.

At 11:28 PM, Larry Vecina busted out 27th when his Kd-Qd couldn't improve against Andy Bloch's pocket 7's. The board came 9c-7s-4s, leaving Vecina in deep trouble. A jack on the turn gave him the possibility of a miracle runner-runner gutshot, but the river 6c sent him home, albeit $11,600 richer.

At 11:30 PM, the blinds have gone up to 1000-2000 with a 400 ante.

At 11:41, Steve Kendrick busted out 26th when his A-8 ran into Marciano Elie's A-9 and the board helped neither player. When queens paired on the turn, Kendrick picked up a few more pot-splitting outs, but the river disappointed him, and he's out of the running.

Earlier action...

When action got underway this evening, World Series champ Brad Daugherty almost immediately busted out to Paul Wolfe. Brad's KK had run into AA the night before and left him with just 4200 chips. He went all-in with 89 tonight and ran into Paul's pocket tens. Paul flopped a set, making Brad's running 9's all the more painful.

8:10 PM Gus Hansen's pocket kings busted Richard Brodie out when his pocket 8's couldn't find a third one on the board.

About the same time, Hoyt Corkins' 88 notched Surinder Sunar's 77. When the board helped neither, Sunar, a legendary high-stakes player who lives in England, was out.

After the dinner break, the blinds went to 800-1600 with a 300 ante.

10:02 PM: Ryan Buckholtz and Marciano Elie went all-in. Ryan had Ac-Kd, Marciano had Jc-Jd. The board came queen high helping neither player, and Ryan was out.

Hoyt Corkins was using his 100K+ stack to pound on his table, constantly moving two stacks of 1K chips (40K) out preflop, at which point the other players would fold. At 10:10, he did it and Bill Gazes, who had been unable find any cards for a long time went into the tank. Finally Bill gave up and threw his cards away.

At 10:20 PM Daan Sjulstad moved all-in for 20K, it was folded to Gazes who shook his head, and said "Let's play pot limit." Eventually Gazes folded.

There was an interesting hand between Gus Hansen and Chris Ferguson. Gus raised to 5000 in the small blind. Chris immediately put him all-in for about 35K more. Gus muttered, cursed, and generally railed against the injustice of the world. Finally he called and turned up pocket 8's. Chris could only offer Kd-6s, and a uninteresting board doubled Gus through.

Around 10:30, Bill raised to 4500 under the gun. Seppo Rajamaki, who had been very quiet, moved all-in for about 29K. Folded back to Gazes, who muttered under his breath some more. He thought, talked, thought some more until Rajamaki called the clock on him. Shortly before it ran out, Gazes folded pocket 7's face up, saying it was the second big hand he was laying down.
